Classes

Our Puppy Classes are taught by Tracy and are designed for puppies between the ages of twelve and sixteen weeks. We have six sessions over the course of six weeks, all lasting 45 minutes long.

This class covers:
- You, your puppy and the law
- Training in relation to your specific breed
- What you want to gain from training your puppy
- Basic training skills such as sit, down, stay, recall etc.
- The importance of playing with your puppy and developing bonds

Puppies will meet and greet each other but do not play together freely in class. Your dog has most likely been in a litter with at least one other puppy so will know how to play, but at that stage they don't know manners.
Puppy with no manners + puppy with no manners = adult dog with no manners!
The puppies get a chance to interact with our older, wiser, adult dogs and learn valuable social skills from them.  We discuss the importance of your puppy experiencing a huge variety of unusual sights and sounds when they are young which allows them to face strange things in a relaxed and less stressed way when they are older.

Our Moving On Classes are taught by Tracy with the clicker portion taught by Cat. They are designed for older puppies and younger adult dogs. We have six sessions over the course of six weeks, all lasting 45 minutes long.

This class covers:
- Different methods of keeping your dog mentally stimulated (clicker, search games etc)
- Basic training skills brushed up on
- Building bonds
- Adding in distractions and real life situations to proof training

We believe all of the above is important for all dogs in any household.

New for summer 2011 - the moving on class will contain an introduction to agility commands section.  This can be invaluable for those wishing to try agility with their dogs but also as a method of learning new commands and skills with your dogs away from agility.  The content of this will vary depending on the dog breed, age and condition.  The welfare of your dog is always put first.

Our Clicker Training Classes are taught by Cat and are designed for all dogs over the age of 6 months. We can accept younger dogs but we would suggest they have attended one of our other classes first so that they are comfortable in the atmosphere. These classes haven't been finalized yet, but if you are interested please contact Cat.

This class covers:
- An introduction to clicker training
- The three most common ways of training a dog
- Why clicker training can actually improve your dog's intelligence
- Why clicker is better than correction
- How you can teach as many tricks as you can think of to any breed and age of dog.

This is a very basic clicker training class. Whilst Cat believes clicker training revolves around shaping, it's also her aim to push more positive reinforcement into the world and so easier ways are often used in this class.
